Phonics Dice Splat

Aim of the Game:

This game will help children to revise the phonics sounds that they have been learning by being the first to splat a word with the dice sound in it.

What do you need?

• Phase Two Phonics dice – available to download here
• Phase Three Phonics dice – available to download here
• Cards with words on that include the dice sounds.
• Hand splatter – I made mine by drawing round my hand and attaching it to a lolly stick.

How to Play:

• Lay out flash cards with words including the phonemes on the dice.
• Roll the dice and say the phoneme aloud.
• Using your ‘hand swotter’ swot a word with that digraph in it and say the word aloud. Once swotted, the card can be turned over and later you can practice spelling the word.
• If playing with two players, the first player to swot the word with the phoneme in wins the word. The player with the most word cards at the end wins.
