Bauble Speaking

Bauble Speaking

Aim of the Game:

“Bauble Speaking” is a language-focused and engaging game designed to enhance sentence structure of speech and reading skills. The goal is to correctly assemble sentences by selecting baubles with individual words and punctuation marks, encouraging literacy development in a festive context.

What You Need:

How to Play:

  1. Prepare the Baubles: Write sentences on the baubles, breaking them down into separate words and including punctuation marks. Ensure there is a set of baubles for each sentence. You can download some ready made ones here.
  2. Create Sentence Cards: Write the full sentences from the baubles onto separate cards. These cards will be used as references during the game. Download a ready-made version here.
  3. Mix and Turn Face Down: Mix up the baubles and turn them face down, ensuring the words and punctuation marks are hidden.
  4. Pick a Sentence Card: Players pick a sentence card and read the full sentence aloud to familiarise themselves with the structure.
  5. Choose a Bauble: Players then choose a bauble from the face-down pile. If the selected bauble contains a word or punctuation mark that belongs to the chosen sentence, the player keeps it. If not, they put it back face down.
  6. Assemble the Sentence: Players continue picking baubles, aiming to assemble the complete sentence. The first player to correctly form their sentence wins.
  7. Optional Challenge: To add complexity, players can create longer sentences or incorporate specific grammar rules, such as using certain tenses or sentence types.

“Bauble Speaking” not only reinforces sentence structure and reading skills but also adds a fun and tactile element to language learning. It’s an interactive way to engage with language arts in a Christmas-themed setting.
