“Build a Snowman” is a creative and imaginative game where players fold, draw, and describe unique snowmen. The goal is to bring their snowman to life by selecting description cards and illustrating the details on their folded paper. The challenge is to complete the snowman first based on the drawn descriptions.
What You Need:
Sheets of paper
Drawing materials (pencils, pens, markers)
Scissors
How to Play:
Prepare the Base: Start by folding a sheet of paper in half, then back on itself in a zigzag fashion, creating a series of connected rectangles.
Draw the Snowman: On the top rectangle, draw the outline of a snowman. Be sure to draw the arms extending to the edge of the paper as this will hold the snowmen together.
Cut and Unfold: Carefully cut along the drawn outline of the snowman. Unfold the paper to reveal a unique, symmetrical snowman.
Write Descriptions: Each player writes a set of descriptions about their snowman on separate pieces of paper. Descriptions can range from simple features to more detailed characteristics.
Create Description Cards: Cut the written descriptions into individual cards, ensuring there is a variety of details about the snowman on each card.
Pick and Draw: Players take turns picking a description card and drawing the corresponding details on their snowman. For example, if the card says “top hat” or “carrot nose,” the player adds these features to their snowman.
Complete the Snowman: Players continue to pick cards, draw the described features, and gradually complete their snowman based on the selected descriptions.
Finish First to Win: The first player to successfully complete their snowman by drawing all the described features on their folded paper is declared the winner of “Build a Snowman.”
This game not only sparks creativity in drawing but also encourages descriptive writing as players articulate the details of their snowmen. It’s a fun and interactive way to combine artistic expression with storytelling in a friendly competition.
