This is a good one to use up some energy! The aim of this game is for players to begin to look at a text in terms of how it is laid out or presented and start to think about why the author has chosen to do it in this way.
What do you need?
Some cards with challenges for players to find (see below for example).
How to Play:
Write some different things to find in books, magazines, newspaper, leaflets (anything with writing on) and you could set a time limit to do this.
Group the texts under the different headings.
Can the children see any similarities with the texts that have bullet points in them (for example)?
This discussion is a good way for children to begin explaining why an author might have chosen to use bullet points.
