The goal of the “Fine Motor Snowflake” activity is to engage in a creative craft that not only produces a visually appealing snowflake but also enhances fine motor skills. Participants will follow a series of steps involving precise cutting, folding, and sticking to create their unique snowflake design.
What You Need:
A piece of paper cut into a square shape
Scissors
Pencil
Ruler
Tape or glue
How to Play:
Prepare the Base: Start with a square piece of paper. Ensure it’s cut neatly and has an even shape.
Initial Folding: Fold the square in half, creating a triangle. Make sure the edges align accurately for a symmetrical design.
Drawing Lines: On one side of the triangle, use a pencil and ruler to draw the specific lines demonstrated in the accompanying video. These lines will guide the subsequent cutting.
Precise Cutting: Cut along the first two lines all the way through the paper. Then, proceed to cut along the next lines, stopping at the middle line. This creates the foundational structure for the snowflake.
Unfolding the Design: Open up the paper, revealing the intricate pattern formed by the precise cuts. The paper should resemble a snowflake with connected sections.
Folding and Sticking: Starting with the middle pieces, fold them inward and secure them with tape or glue. Repeat this process for the remaining pieces, folding them in opposite directions. This step adds dimension and detail to the snowflake.
Create Multiple Snowflakes: Repeat the process to create a total of six individual snowflakes. Once completed, either stick or staple them together at their centers to form a larger, more complex snowflake.
Through these steps, participants not only enjoy a creative crafting experience but also refine their fine motor skills by navigating the intricacies of cutting, folding, and assembling the delicate snowflake pieces.
