Aim of the Game
Practise spelling and word recognition by collecting letters and clues from plastic eggs and rearranging them to form words.
What You Need
- Empty paddling pool
- Water
- Plastic eggs
- Paper and pen for writing clues and letters
- Fishing net or small scoop
Game Setup
- Write a word on a piece of paper.
- On separate small pieces of paper, write the letters of the word and a clue about the word (optional: one clue per egg or all letters in one egg).
- Place each letter and its clue inside a plastic egg.
- Fill a paddling pool with water and throw the eggs in.
How to Play
- Use the fishing net.
- Take turns scooping up one egg from the pool.
- Open the egg.
- Read the clue and collect the letters inside.
- Rearrange the letters.
- Using the letters and the clue, try to spell the word correctly.
- Continue taking turns until all words have been guessed.
Variations
- Timed challenge: See who can spell the word fastest.
- Team play: Players work in pairs to spell words from the letters and clues.
- Word difficulty: Use longer or more complex words for older children.
- Multiple words per egg: For advanced learners, place letters from multiple words in one egg for a bigger challenge.
