Post-it Tables

Post-it Tables

Aim of the Game:

This is such a simple ‘introduction to an unfamiliar times table’ activity. It’s such a simple activity but really helps to develop understanding of a times table.

What do you need?

  • Post-it notes
  • Whiteboard or large piece of paper (wallpaper rolls are good for this)

How to Play:

There are so many variations with this activity:

  • Order the numbers from smallest to largest.
  • Start by adding the numbers of the times table you know and then fill in the gaps.
  • Speed test – how quickly can you add all the numbers to the number line?
  • Discuss number patterns: odd/even, doubles,etc.
  • Once familiar with the order of the numbers remove a couple and ask the child to fill in the missing number.
