This is a really quick and easy set up game but one that will involve lots of looking and discussion! I’ve written a mixture of number sentences on mine but you could just focus on times tables or addition, whatever your child needs to practise.

🔎 So, on a piece of A4 paper folded in half, write down some number sentences on both sides but one number has to be different in each.
🔎 If you have some numbers, put them nearby or if not, the players will just need a pen or pencil.
🔎 Can players spot the difference between the number sentences? When they do they can either put the correct digit onto the incorrect number sentence (to make them both the same and correct) or circle the difference and tick and cross to say which is the correct and incorrect one (see photos).
This is really effective in getting children to discuss what is wrong with the number sentences, for example, 16+5=20 isn’t correct as that would make 21. The 5 needs to be a 4 to make that calculation correct.
Let me know if you have a go!
