The Remainder Relay – Short Division

The Remainder Relay – Short Division

These instructions show you how to teach short division in a hands-on, active, and engaging way by taking learning out of the classroom and into the hall or playground. Using a large-scale version of the bus stop method, children can learn division through movement and teamwork.

All you need is masking tape or chalk, digit cards, post-it notes, and children who are ready to get moving and have fun!

Once everyone has mastered the method, keep the learning going with a game of Short Division Four in a Row — a fun way to build confidence and practise short division skills even further.
