Practise place value by building the largest number possible using digit cards and strategic choices. The player with the biggest number at the end wins!
What You Need
One set of number cards (0–9)
Four wild cards (any design works)
A flat surface for playing
Game Setup
Shuffle all number cards and wild cards together.
Decide how many digits your number will have (e.g., 4-digit, 5-digit, or 6-digit).
Each player lays out empty spaces for their number (like boxes for thousands, hundreds, tens, ones).
How to Play
Take turns drawing cards.
On your turn, flip over the top card from the pile.
Choose which place value column to put it in (ones, tens, hundreds, etc.).
Once a card is placed, it cannot be moved — unless you use a wild card.
Wild cards.
If you draw a wild card, you have two choices:
Place it in an empty space and choose any digit (0–9) for it to represent.
Replace a card you’ve already placed with any digit (0–9).
Continue drawing until all spaces in your number are filled.
Compare numbers.
When both players have completed their numbers, read them aloud and compare.
The player with the biggest number wins that round.

Longer challenge: Try 6-digit or even 7-digit numbers.

Place Value Skills: Reinforces how digit position changes a number’s value.
