Comparing Fractions Pong

Comparing Fractions Pong

Aim of the game:

I’ve made this adaptation to a certain ‘pong’ game to help children practise finding out which number (or in this case fraction) has the greatest value.

What do you need?

  • Table tennis balls (in a bag)
  • Container or pot (I’ve used a Twiglets tub)

How to Play:

  • Pick two balls out of the bag and record the fractions.
  • Use the taught method to find a common denominator to make the fractions easier to compare.
  • Once you have worked out which is the greater fraction, try to bounce it into the pot (the crocodile always likes to eat the bigger value). You could give point scores for finding the greater fraction correctly and then points if it goes into the pot.
