Comparing Numbers Splat – Compare and order numbers (Yr3)
Aim of the Game:
This is a really simple game to help children practise ordering and comparing numbers.
What do you need?
You don’t need a whiteboard, you could make number cards and put them on the floor or do this on a big sheet of paper.
A hand splatter.
How to Play:
Randomly pick a starting number using digit cards and put a range of bigger and smaller numbers below it.
Start with the target number and shout bigger or smaller and the children have to use their hand splatter to splat a correct number and shout it out.
You could then extend this to writing a number sentence with the greater/less than symbol in it to compare the numbers.
You can either then go back to the original target number and play again or continue from the number you have just splatted and extend the number sentence.
