Rainbows have been a big part of our lives during 2020 and 2021 so I thought I’d try and use one in a game to help children learn their times tables. The aim of the game is to find all the multiples of the times table and draw a rainbow.

🌈 Player one picks one of the pieces of paper and decides which multiple of their times table it is, e.g. I picked out 84 which is 12 x 7, so I circle the number 12 on my piece of paper.
🌈 Player one folds the piece of paper up and puts it back in the pile or bag.
🌈 Player two now has their go, choosing a piece of paper, deciding which multiple of 7 it is and circling the number on their piece of paper.
🌈 If a player picks a multiple that they have already circled, they lose their turn and must put the piece of paper back in the pile.
🌈 When a player circles two of the same coloured number they can draw an arch of the rainbow in the same colour.
🌈 Play continues in this way until the winner is the first player to draw all of their arches and complete the rainbow.
