Supermarket Sweep

Supermarket Sweep

Aim of the Game:

This game involves lots of different maths skills and is active too so win win!

What do you need?

  • You need a whiteboard or piece of paper
  • A laptop or phone with a supermarket online shopping website loaded onto it

How to Play:

πŸ›’ Write a list of 5 items that children can find around the house, then play!
πŸ›’ Children have to read the first item from the list and then run around the house to find it. (You could add a time limit if you wanted).
πŸ›’ Race back to the computer and type in the item they’ve just found, find the price and write it down.
πŸ›’ Continue doing this until all the items and their prices have been found.
πŸ›’ Total up the cost of the shopping.
πŸ›’ Throw in some further questions such as, β€˜Would I be able to buy my shopping list with Β£5, Β£10?’ β€˜How much change would I get from Β£10?’
πŸ›’ As the children start getting used to the cost of items they could predict how much their shopping will cost before they add them together.

Lots of different ways this could be adapted, very active and practical and hands-on!
